External use only, as medicated plaster or semi-solid forms applied to the skin, obtained by ethanol or propanol extraction.

Safety considerations

Reddening and a burning sensation can occur where applied; allergic skin reactions can occur rarely and require treatment to stop; must not be used by patients allergic to other sources of capsaicin and capsaicin-like compounds such as paprika or chilli; must not be applied to broken skin, wounds or eczema.
