Ganoderma lucidum, also recorded as G. lingzhi, a polypore fungus, not a vascular plant. Under D6 this candidate carries the fungi class tag and must not be described as a botanical.

Forms and distinctions

Different preparations of the same material are described separately, because what is recorded for one form does not carry to another.

Fungal fruiting-body and spore or powder preparations are distinguished from traditional decoctions.

Safety considerations

Rare but serious hepatotoxicity is recorded, including a fatal case, associated in the record with powdered and spore preparations rather than traditional decoctions (to).
