Pam Oh Herbs

Brand story

The story of the House, in the order it happened. Each part is an approved record; nothing is embellished to fill a gap.

In order

  1. How Pam Oh Herbs Began

Pam Oh Herbs started in 2016, but definitely not with some grand plan to build what you see today. I was already making herbal preparations and learning everything I could about natural wellness. Then my schoolmate Reesa became my first customer. She liked what I made. Apparently, she liked it enough to send me her boyfriend, her sister and her mother. That got my attention. People were willing to pay me for something I already enjoyed doing. More importantly, they trusted me enough to recommend it to people they loved. That's really how Pam Oh Herbs started. No complicated origin story. I was good at it. People wanted it. So I kept going.

  2. Why I Stopped

Eventually, I stopped. The ingredients I had access to were no longer meeting the standard I wanted, and I wasn't interested in lowering that standard just to keep selling. I've always believed all money isn't good money. If I couldn't make something I felt good about putting my name on, I wasn't going to make it. Simple. That mentality still runs Pam Oh Herbs today. What we refuse matters just as much as what we create.

  3. What Changed

A lot can happen in ten years. I kept learning. My education included anatomy and physiology, traditional medicine and Chinese herbal studies. I did very well with Chinese herbs, but eventually chose not to continue that particular path because parts of the teaching became intertwined with religious beliefs and practices that conflicted with my own faith. I kept the education. I left what didn't belong to me. And that probably tells you quite a bit about how I run this House. I don't accept everything simply because it's traditional, popular, profitable or presented as wellness. I ask questions. I research. I pay attention to the body. And I decide what earns my trust.

  4. Pam Oh Herbs Today

Coming back to Pam Oh Herbs wasn't about reopening an old business. I knew more. I expected more. And I could finally build it the way I wanted. So that's what I did. Today, Pam Oh Herbs prepares Collections. We use real ingredients. We pay attention to where things come from, how they're prepared and whether they make sense for what we're trying to accomplish. We consider both traditional use and available research without pretending either one can answer every question. And we're not interested in putting something into a Collection simply because it's popular. If it doesn't make sense, it doesn't belong.

  5. The House

Pam Oh Herbs is now based in Vancouver, Canada. You'll see Vancouver throughout the House because this is our home, not because we're trying to turn it into a marketing theme. You'll also see something else throughout the House: Nothing Artificial. That applies to more than ingredients. It applies to how we communicate, what we promise, what we create and what we're willing to sell. There are easier ways to run a business. I'm just not interested in them. Welcome to Pam Oh Herbs. I think you'll understand us pretty quickly.
